Brief of the LED Lighting Program of 10,000 lights in 10 Cities in China

www. shcri. com – In February of 2009, China Ministry of Science and Technology initiated the program of ten cities with 10,000 lights separately. Dependent on the application demonstration project of municipal lighting of LED, the ministry chose 10 cities to spread the application of over 10,000 LED functional lights in each city (street lamps, tunnel lamps, functional lights for subways or light rails, gas stations and underground parks).
Objects: By 2009, 1 million LED municipal lights will be applied in over 20 experimental cities, including LED street lamps, lights for public places such as tunnels, carriages and platforms of subways, underground parks and gas stations. The object of the percentage of home-made LED parts is 60%. The predicted annual amount of saved power will be 220 million kilowatt hours.
Working contents: As to the selection of experimental cities, those cities with a certain degree of working foundation are preferred, such as the seven industrial bases of LED, areas that hold large-scale activities as World Expo and the Asian Games.
In the meantime, the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology approved 21 cities to join the experimental unit. Municipalities to take over the project implementation and issues a report on the implementation of China’s science and technology programs. In addition to the main content of the work during the testing period and the standard formulation of provisions to assess, review and approve the composition of the experimental work and the establishment of product standards and testing environments platforms.
The experimental cities include Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, and Baoding of Hebei Province, Dalian of Liaoning Province, Harbin of Heilongjiang Province, Shanghai, Yangzhou of Jiangsu Province, Ningbo and Hangzhou of Zhejiang Province, Xiamen and Fuzhou of Fujian Province, Nanchang of Jiangxi Province, Weifang of Shandong Province, Zhengzhou of Henan Province, Wuhan of Hubei Province, Shenzhen and Dongguan of Guangdong Province, Chengdu and Mianyang of Sichuan Province, Chongqing and Xi’an of Shaanxi Province. The experimental work of LED application projects (referred as ten cities with 10,000 lights respectively) will be carried out in these 21 cities.
The modeling stage (2010-2012)
Objects: By 2010, 50 semiconductor lighting modeling cities will have been built in China with the application of 2 million LED municipal lights. The object of the percentage of home-made LED parts is 70%. The predicted annual amount of saved power will be 1 billion kilowatt hours.
Content: Work with a pilot phase, will continue, and tested platforms, production index, and a great company to be declared on a regular basis. China’s Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of science and technology level of financial support and subsidies to urban modeling.
The promotion stage (2013-2015)
Objects: By 2015, the semiconductor lighting industry will enter 30% of common lighting markets. The predicted annual amount of saved power will be 140 billion kilowatt hours. And this will enlarge the scale of the semiconductor lighting industry to 500 billion RMB and increase the export amount to 30 billion USD. It will create over 1 million job opportunities and become the world’s top three in the semiconductor lighting industry.
Contents: To form a mature marketing model and make semiconductor lighting enter 30% of common lighting markets under the guidance of the experimental stage and working experience and foundation.
Semiconductor products, tools, lighting ten cities mentioned in the local program, with 10,000 LED lights not only include the street lights. However, the Chinese government does not quite amount of financial aid program for ten cities of 10,000 lights now. Since China has not published a standard LED, standards testing and acceptance rates will probably be in the form of the criterion.
Most of the LED street lamp projects which are being carried out are the modeling projects invested by local governments. Therefore it is predicted that the large-scale demands for LED lighting tools in Chinese market will appear in the latter half of 2009 or a later period.
