Can A Credit Card Company Place A Lien On My Bank Account If Social Security Is My Only Source Of Income?

The credit card company cannot put a lein on anything without the courts consent.
But in general, I think that ss money is untouchable for credit card debt.
If ss is your only income, you will probably qualify FREE or low cost legal fees

No, they cannot. Social Security benefits are protected by law from bank levies or garnishment.
As long as the benefits are clearly marked as such upon deposit, they can’t touch it.
First the credit card company has to sue you. Then it depends on what state you live in.
You need to get your state laws to find out.
No one can touch your ss money as long as the debt you owe is not government related….and as long as that is your only source of income. But, be careful, depending on what state you live in they may be able to freeze your checking and savings accounts pending investigations, and that is something that would require a court order. I did hear about people trying to lobby for ss benefits to be levied…..don’t think it was successful. To be on the safe side consult an attorney and let he/she tell you what your state law book says.
