Source. The Times on Sunday reporting Prof.Kevin Bales, consultant to the U.N. on people trafikking, saying this in a forthcoming Channel 4 ( in The U.K. ) programme titled ” Chinas stolen children ” to be shown on October 8th.
And that the Chinese embassy in London is considering seeking an injunction to try to prevent it from being shown?

I didn’t know that it was that high! I was aware that Kids do get stolen. I live in China now and fear for my daughter every day. There are a lot of Chinese people that I know who are wonderful (my wife is one) but generally when you travel through China you notice that people have little respect for their country or their fellow human beings. Many spit, litter, don’t stop for people on pedestrian crossings, etc. I am locked into a contract in China for the next year or so but when it is over I will be on the first plane, boat, or whatever out of here. The police here don’t seem to want to enforce laws as it is easier to turn a blind eye. Sorry that is a little unfair: you can get them or any government official to do things as long as you give them large sums of money in plain envelopes. Thinking of coming to the Olympics? You may want to think again.
glyn k, human trafficking happens in many parts of the world not only in China. it also happens in middle eastern countries and in africa. even in eastern europe or even in america there are children missing every year..
You should look around your shoulders in the u.k. and see if you can rescue any missing children around you…..
rather then wasting time on here talking about China….can spend the time instead to get off your butt to save the children, if you sincerely care about their welfare that much.

OMG, that is very disturbing and bad situation in China. I better be extra careful with my kids since we are living in China right now. No wonder I see a lot of child beggars on the street and there is always an adult not far away keeping an eye on them. Are these kidnapped children?
Well, after all, you’ve got to do SOMETHING with all those extra kids.

Yeah, I did know that.
Yet, I still don’t understand why those Children get no attention when one little girl [do I need to mention her name] gets all the attention even though she’s most likely dead because of her stupid parents.
I was not sure the numbers, however, I have heard about that kinda news before.
I have also seen a TV program regarding kidnap of young kids and young women in China, via CNN 5-6 years ago. They were forced to work in brick kilns and farms, etc, in rural Provinces.
Government took an action, but probably situation haven’t changed very much.
I think current Government with Commy party doesn’t govern China well. It is said history repeats. If they remained, civilians would uprise again. Then my beloved China would be in chaos like the era of Xinhai Revolution, Yuan Shikai and Civil War in near future.
I read the report of Times. Those kidnapped kids and people are locals, not foreigners. The human rights of local people has to be protected by their nation. Today something is wrong with China.
As the article, with the Olympics in Beijing next year, China’s human rights and environmental record will be scrutinized in the World.

No the figure should be 700,000 thousands and plus many thousands more at the neighbouring countries! Gosh look at the demand from the rest for virgin or child prostitutes no wonder the smugglers risking so much to feed the demand!
Since you are so concerned and the rest of the answerers here too, why dont all of you do some good deeds by sending a reports to the authorities concerned to at least help! Pls dont just NATO…no action talk only

there are heaps of problems in china… try and do something about it instead of just standing there and saying stuff d’accord?
Child prostitution is alive in the grand old USA! Well, you might try minding your own business and then try to feel thankful you are not not of them! Really, because there are thugs and goons out there whose job it is to silence nosy people! Just a word of advise.
The people keeping a watch on the children beggars are there to keep rude foreigners from smacking them for being too aggressive! How many times have you been in a bar and heard drunken foreigners bragging about how many child beggars that they punched or kicked and then had to run? Sad story isn’t?
China has alot of issues concerning human rights and global warming, and to think that they want to overtake the USA as the superpower, i don’t see that happening.
