How Do I Convert Table Lamps Purchased In Usa For Permanent Use In Ireland?

I am giving my granddaughter some fancy table lamps for for her new bedroom this Christmas. Can these be modified so she can use them in Ireland (she lives in Ireland)? How?

I would think that the lamp would have to be re-wired to handle the different electric current in Ireland. She can have it done there for probably a nominal fee. gl!
Voltage in the USA is 120 volts
Voltage in Ireland is 230 volts
Lamps – Holders – Cable Wiring – Wall plug would really all need to be changed by a qualified electrician,
Chance of Death or a Fire as Irelands Electric Voltage is twice that of USA
ebay you can buy a 3 pin plug that goes over the 2 pin american plughttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V…
about £4 – these are the GHD straighners plug, but you can reduce the amp fuse and use it that way.
If you’re in american, tell your daughter about them rather than panicking about it yourself
i believe you can cut the wire and change the plugs with an old lamp that has the right plug for ireland.I know my father in law has done it with an old vacuum. plus, i think radio shack or walmart might have a plug that sticks into her outlet and the other side can be used for the american plug? but if anything, you can splice the cord and find the right pronged plug. electrical tape the cords tightly together and spray paint the cord to make it match. good luck!
She needs http://www.powerconnections.co.uk/conver… to convert the plug and she’ll need 230V bulbs (not 110v). The flex will be suitable.
NEVER use those converters for hairdryers etc.
