I have read that LED lamps reduce the consumption of electricity to a great extent. But are they connected to the circuit along with resistors? In such case how they reduce the consumption of electricity?

Despite using resistors and making some heat, they are efficient, in that more of the power goes to making light rather than heat.
LED lights us totally different technology. and i feel the work on lesser voltages . to reduce the voltage we have to use resistance in series.
