My Electric Company Is Ripping Me Off. My Vacation House Costs Me 250 A Month With Nothing Running….?

i turn everything off but it is a gas home so the hot water heater runs. they charge a 50.00 fee for gas, a base fee of 21.00 for sewer, a 10.00 base water fee, and a 16.00 trash fee. I am only at this house maybe 1 weekend a month and my bill runs me about 250 a month, a whole lot more than my house I live in 24/7 that runs me monthly about 125 with more square footage than my vacation house which is smaller. What other sources of energy can I use so I am not ripped a new one from this eletric company??

Go solar,and burn wood for heat.In a stove that is.You can sell the electric you store to the electric CO.That way you will save a lt…..JW
Just a guess, but do you have a really old refrigerator that you do not turn off? You would not believe how much electricity they can burn.
Watch the elecric meter. If everything is really off the wheeel on it will not move at all, turn various things on one at a time – how fast does the wheel spin. Look at your bill is the $250 for gas? or electric? play detective, you can figure it out.
Ask your electrical supplier to come out and explain this, something is really wrong. If it is a stand alone house it may be the meter. If it is a multiple dwelling, the house can be miswired and you could be supplying someone else. I will say this, if I was your neighbor and knew you were going to be gone for a long time, I could tap your power box and use your power quite easily in many cases, I would just have to clip on and go for it,food for thought! I just worked on a double duplex, similar problem, it was tough to see who was paying for what. After lots of rewiring, the problem was solved.
Buy stock in that company in order to get some of your money back………
Turn off hot water heater when you are not there, then remember to turn it on when you arrive. Try solar power as an alternative.
