Will A Ceiling Light Fixture Purchased In China Work In The Us?
Posted by China Sourcing CommentatorFeb 27
The product is from IKEA. I checked both the US IKEA site and the Chinese IKEA site and the specifications listed were exactly the same.
The fixture uses 3 halogen bulbs and was listed like this:
GY 6.35 12V 35W

The answer is NO. As the Asker stated the voltage requirement is 12V – not 110V as the US electrical system provides our houses…Sheesh guys…Yes china makes equipment for US, Europe and everywhere but the equipment is usually not the same for everywhere which is why you have use an adapter in Europe because their system is 50 – not 60 cycles like we have.
If its 12V it is a DC fixture like we used to have and can be run off a 12V battery like many of us still use in small motorboats. It is unsafe to run the wrong kind of equipment on the wrong power source…
yes it should work…
yes it will work but why dont u ask dealer.
Maybe.but then it will quit..or catch fire…so please don’t put it on e-bay UM KAY !
it should…i mean everything in the US is made in China so things bought in china made by the same people should work the same way…and electricity runs no matter where you are
maybe for sometime
I don’t think you can buy a light at Home Depot that is NOT made in China. I hope they work….
